Voodoo5 Hits New Delay

After promising earlier to ship Voodoo5 5500 AGP cards at the end of this week, 3dfx revealed today that delivery of the Voodoo5 will be delayed temporarily. Certain system configurations are said to produce low rates of field failure in the cards, and the company will run additional quality assurance tests to determine the source and nature of the problem. 3dfx expects the delay to be from one to two weeks.

"We believe that this affects only a small number of configurations, but we feel that this is the safest thing to do," said Randy Schussler, vice president of operations at 3dfx Interactive.
