Vivendi Games' Sierra Online division is looking to cement its reputation as a publisher of downloadable console games, and the company today announced another move in that direction. The publisher confirmed that it has acquired Wanako Games, the Chilean developer of the Xbox Live Arcade game Assault Heroes.

Calling Wanako the largest developer in Latin America, Vivendi said it will retain the studio's staff and publish several of the team's original game concepts. Esteban Sosnik, the studio's founder and former CEO, will become head of Sierra Online Latin America, with development manager and creative director Tiburcio de la Cárcova managing Wanako in the future.

Wanako's next game is 3D Ultra Mini Golf Adventures for the Xbox Live Arcade, and Vivendi said the team is developing a number of unannounced titles for Sierra Online. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
