The gaming world's main action may be taking place at E3 in Santa Monica this week, but back in Europe, Nintendo has released two new games to join the previous 109 already available on the territory's Wii Virtual Console.

First up is Paper Mario, which made its debut on the Nintendo 64 in 2001. The mustached plumber becomes as thin as a piece of paper during one mission to free the Star Spirits from Bowser, in a move that Nintendo says makes "the link between 2D and 3D like never before."

This week's second release is Air Zonk, a shoot-'em-up that was released in 1994 on the TurboGrafx-16. The titular hero forms Team Cool with his friends to take on King Drool, who is intent on conquering the world.

Paper Mario is available now for 1,000 Wii Points (approx. £7.50) and Air Zonk comes in at 600 Wii Points (approx £4).
