Microsoft has officially announced that Toronto Raptors guard Vince Carter will be the official cover athlete for its first-party Xbox basketball game NBA Inside Drive 2002. Carter will appear on the game's cover and related merchandising, and he has also provided his input in the game's development. The former North Carolina Tarheel participated in motion-capture sessions for the game and lent his basketball knowledge to the developers in the course of the game's development.

"It was exciting to be a part of NBA Inside Drive 2002 from its inception,'' Carter said. "I performed all my favorite dunks for the developers during a motion-capture session, and I think the game turned out to be very realistic. I can't wait to play the guys in the locker room.''

NBA broadcast announcers Kevin Calabro and Marques Johnson will call the action on the floor and hip-hop artists Sir Mix-A-Lot and LA Symphony will provide music tracks for the game. NBA Inside Drive 2002 will be released for the Xbox on January 23.
