Vigilante 8 and... Star Wars?

Activision and LucasArts team up demolition-style with Star Wars: Demolition for the PlayStation.

Comments

The Star Wars galaxy combined with Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8 is not something we thought we'd see. LucasArts, however, proved us wrong by announcing a new game that seems to be just that for the Playstation, Star Wars: Demolition.

The game is being developed by Luxoflux, creator of the multiplayer vehicle-mayhem (otherwise known as car combat) titles Vigilante 8 and Vigilante 8: Second Offense. The series was highly successful, and now LucasArts and Activision have teamed up to publish a similar game based on the Star Wars universe.

The game places you in dynamic battles against high-profile Star Wars enemies. Boba Fett, for example, is equipped with a powerful disintegrator that lets him drain energy from competitors' shields. Another character is Aurra Sing, who was introduced to Star Wars in Episode I. She has a swoop bike with a powerful cannon that is capable of knocking out enemies from more than 1000 meters away. The game will also feature original characters like Wade Vox. We'll have more on these characters soon.

The battle arenas include all kinds of environments from the Star Wars galaxy. Snowfields at the Rebel Base on Hoth, the Great Pit of Carkoon, and the surface of the second Death Star are all in there.

The game is set for a release for the PlayStation this Fall. Expect more info at E3, which is being held in Los Angeles on May 10. We'll be giving you extensive reports from the show, so stay tuned.
