Vatical Goes Snowboardin'
Vatical announces Polaris SnoCross, nabbing licensing rights from snowmobile maker Polaris Industries.
When it comes to snowmobiling games, there isn't much to choose from. But there will be more competition soon, as Vatical Entertainment announced Tuesday that it will publish Polaris SnoCross for the Game Boy Color, the Nintendo 64 and the PlayStation. The game will be developed by Troy, NY-based developer Vicarious Visions. The title will carry a license and receive full marketing support from Polaris Industries, a leading snowmobile manufacturer.
"This much-sought-after trademark was licensed to Vatical over the industry's leading sports-games publishers. We are extremely excited that Polaris SnoCross will take the leading position over the few other winter sports games with limited functionality currently available," said David Kahl, Vatical's executive VP/general manager. "We are also thrilled that Polaris - the leader in the snowmobile industry - is providing significant marketing and promotional muscle behind this title."
"Polaris had its choice of eager development companies who wanted to do this project, and clearly they liked our approach and our successful track record in game development," said Karthik Bala, chairman of Vicarious Visions.
