Vacation still hard at work

Electronic Arts' most recent virtual-life game expansion, The Sims: Vacation, held on to number one on NPD Techworld's latest weekly list of best-selling PC games. The expansion faced strong competition, as Microsoft's action role-playing game Dungeon Siege debuted in second place, knocking LucasArts' Star Wars action game Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast down to third. 3DO's turn-based strategy game Heroes of Might and Magic IV dropped one place into fourth, followed by EA's incredibly popular virtual-life game The Sims in fifth.

Other notable entries on the list include Freedom Force, EA and Crave's popular superhero role-playing game, which slipped from fourth place to eighth place, and EA's World War II first-person shooter Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which slipped from sixth place into seventh. One notable absence from the list is Infogrames' theme park management game RollerCoaster Tycoon, which dropped off the top 10 list for the first time in recent memory. RollerCoaster Tycoon has appeared on the weekly top 10 lists almost continuously since its launch in March 1999.
