US PC game charts: June 25-July 1

While beleaguered writers of PC sales-chart stories may be tired of trying to come up with new and interesting ways of talking about World of Warcraft's umpteenth week on top of the charts, it's a good bet Vivendi Universal and Blizzard Interactive never get sick of it. They'll be happy to know the massively multiplayer online game is tops again this week, with last week's second place, Cars: Radiator Springs Adventure, once again racing behind it and looking for the opportunity to pass.

As for new faces on the charts this week, THQ's mythologically minded action role-playing game Titan Quest turned in a heroic third-place showing, while Electronic Arts' inaugural installment of the sports management sim NFL Head Coach made a somewhat surprising appearance at the 10 spot. In an odd twist for the PC charts, Head Coach was the closest thing to a pure strategy game on the list this week, as Age of Empires III and Heroes of Might and Magic V fell off the top 10. The only other game with a virtually identical console counterpart on the charts is 2K Games' Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which has been a regular on the list since its March release, and landed at number eight this week.

The rest of the chart looks mighty familiar, with Electronic Arts' trio of current Sims offerings locking up the fourth-through-sixth spots, and NCsoft's Guild Wars Factions proving that World of Warcraft isn't the only MMO in town at number seven. The boxed version of Valve Software's Half-Life 2: Episode 1 was the biggest mover this week, dropping six spots to number nine. However, the NPD chart does not take into account online sales of the game via Valve's Steam download service.
