US Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Changes

We learn of some changes being made for the US version of Capcom's next big arcade fighting game.

Comments

GameSpot News has learned that the US version of Capcom's upcoming arcade fighting game, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, won't contain the same Dreamcast VMU support featured in the Japanese version. Lack of operator interest is the culprit, as not too many arcade owners are willing to spend the extra money on a VMU attachment, especially considering the abuse a similar N64 memory pak-based feature took in the arcade version of NFL Blitz '99.

The VMU slot on the Japanese version's arcade cabinet will be used to unlock Dreamcast-specific characters on the arcade machine and vice versa. The US versions of the game will have an alternate method of unlocking characters for both versions. The Naomi-based fighter is expected to hit arcades next month, and the Dreamcast version will release in Japan around the same time. No US Dreamcast release date has been announced.
