Steam's annual fall sale will run November 25-December 1, while the winter promotion will be available December 22-January 4, according to Shacknews. This information is based on a note that Valve reportedly sent to Steam developers and publishers.

Eurogamer has obtained this message, which explains why Valve is doing away with daily and flash deals.

"We'll still be highlighting your top games on the front page for 24-48 hour spans, but those products will stay at their most competitive discount, before and after being featured," Valve wrote. "It's not a major change, but it does make the sale a lot more valuable for customers, and it allows us to build sale features that recommend your product all sale long, instead of just during its front page feature."

GameSpot has contacted Valve in an attempt to learn more.

Daily deals, as their name suggests, were offered in previous Steam sales for a period of 48 hours, replaced by new games later in the promotion. Flash deals were offered for shorter periods of time, typically 8 hours.

Steam's latest major sale was themed around Halloween, though a variety of non-scary games were also featured in the promotion. We'll have all the details about Steam's upcoming sale periods as they're made available.
