Uncharted movie still happening

Film adaptation of Uncharted series still alive; new director reportedly attached to the project.

The movie adaptation of action-adventure game Uncharted is still alive, and will allegedly be getting a new director. Seth Gordon, who directed Horrible Bosses and Identify Thief, is the latest name to be attached to the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gordon is "in final negotiations" to direct the Uncharted film. The movie has undergone several director changes in the past, with Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist) previously attached to the film, following David O Russell (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Silver Linings Playbook) dropping out of the project. Actresses Amy Adams and Scarlett Johansson were also reportedly considered for the role of journalist/love interest Elena Fisher.

Developer Naughty Dog revealed the latest entry to the Uncharted series in a teaser trailer last year. The game is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Sony has not yet confirmed a release date.

mark wahlberg would be great for the role as we see drakes comedic side with his snappy punchlines in ted and his great action combos in a lot of movie. also having a big name like mark wahlberg would add a lot of outside interest in the movie from people who necassarily have nt played the game or ever heard of it for that matter and cmon, he darn looks like him too.

Don't know why people hate on Wahlberg for the part....I think he'd do a good job. However, anyone who watches Supernatural would agree that Jenson Ackles would make a perfect Nathan Drake. I'm all for him taking the role.

I still want Nathan Fillion. For everyone that is saying he is too old for the part now, he can look like hes in his 30s for the role if he got in shape for the part. Only problem is he is totally out of shape. Hes put on a lot of weight over the years. I think hes living a little too comfortably off that fat Castle cash.

Hopefully they don't choose Mark wallberg..

And by the way, Nathan Fillion is just to old, go look for an actor that looks like Nathan Drake and with the same qualities Nathan Drake has.

But if you can't do it?, then don't make the movie!.

Good luck to them, I guess, because most movie adaptations of games don't turn out that well. Mostly because they fail to attract good writers, directors and cast - which it turns out are quite important for making good movies.

Just let it go, Sony. The games are more than good enough and a movie will probably just end up being like Sahara. *shudders*

I think a large majority of how much this succeeds is going to be in the casting. I know that's important for all films but in Uncharted's case the characters pretty much make the game as interesting as it is. Still, I shan't set my hopes too high since games to movies very rarely translate well.

What, another Tomb Raider movie? These movie producers are such cash-cows. Not all successful games make for good movies. An Uncharted movie would be just another average action movie with stuff we've all seen before in movies.

I'll tell you what games would make good movies (if done properly and actually look like the games - like FF Advent Children):

- Devil May Cry
- Mass Effect
- Zone of the Enders
- Halo
- Final Fantasy
- Crysis
- Darksiders
- Castlevania
- Infamous
- Prototype
- Etc...

But no, these guys are like "let's make a movie about games like GranTurismo". Why don't they make a movie about The Sims while they're at it? -_- * Sigh *

@nl_skipper

Not so much if they make it like Sly Cooper or Advent Children. Anyway, my point is that the movie won't be nearly as impressive as the game.

Besides, if they make an expensive movie based on a game and get it right, they will also make lots of money from it. Avatar was expensive and the revenue paid off because the movie was well made. Lazy cash-cows don't think that way, they simply take a well known name and rush production, so it turns out crap (almost) every time.

It's pretty much a rip-off of "Throw Mama from the Train." In that movie, Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito agree to kill someone for the other person.

Urgh. Movies of games. Urgh.

The Ratchet and Clank movie kinda makes sense, but methinks an Uncharted one, just like an Ass Creed one, is gonna suck.

There has always been a comedic edge to parts of Uncharted. Think Indiana Jones type humor. I wonder if the movie will tone down the body count.
