Uncharted 4: See a Pro Photographer's Incredible Photo Mode Images
The action game's Photo Mode is being put to good use.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is one of the better-looking games out there, and its Photo Mode has allowed anyone to snap some lovely-looking images. But when you put a professional, award-winning photographer behind the camera, the results are even more incredible.
As discovered by DualShockers (spoilers at the link), photographer Ray Soemarsono has uploaded a series of images he took in Uncharted 4. Soemarsono was named a Top Ten Wedding Photographer in the world by American Photo magazine.
There are 455 images in all, beginning at the start of the game and running through to the end. As such, the images contain massive story spoilers. You can see all of the images here on Flickr.
"I've been a big fan of the Uncharted series and this final chapter of Nate's adventure does not disappoint," Soemarsono said. "This is by far, the most beautiful game I've ever played. The fact that Naughty Dog managed to put this into a console is nothing short of a technological marvel. The addition of the Photo Mode is a blessing for the photographer in me and a curse for the play time."
He said he stopped every 10 seconds or so to snap some shots, which explains why there are more than 450 images in the gallery. The only adjustment made to the images is to brighten some of them, he said.
Soemarsono runs the photography company Apertura alongside Erwin Darmali.
Uncharted 4 launched on May 10. It sold 2.7 million copies in its first week, Sony announced earlier this week.
"A huge congratulations goes out to Naughty Dog for an incredible feat," marketing manager Asad Qizilbash said. "The success of the game is a testament to the caliber of the team at Naughty Dog and their unwavering commitment to their fans.
"Most of all, we wanted to give a special thank you to all of you who joined us so far on this incredible adventure, and have embarked with us on Nathan Drake's final, wild ride."
GameSpot's Uncharted 4 review scored the action-adventure game a 10/10.
"Uncharted 4 is a challenge to the medium. In its writing, in its design, in its understanding of what makes games unique, Uncharted 4 is something to aspire to," critic Mike Mahardy said. "It's a shining example. And we'll be talking about it for years to come."
Naughty Dog has extensive DLC plans for Uncharted 4 that include things like more multiplayer maps and modes, all of which will be free. Additionally, Naughty Dog is making single-player DLC for Uncharted 4, representing a franchise-first.
