Naughty Dog has announced that it will hold a beta for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End this coming weekend for the specific purpose of stress-testing the game's servers. With this in mind, the beta is free and open to all players--and a PlayStation Plus membership is not required.

Below is the specific timing for the upcoming Uncharted 4 beta.

Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Stress Test

  • Start: March 4th, 2016, at 9:00 AM Pacific
  • End: March 6th, 2016, at 11:59 PM Pacific

The beta client is available to pre-load starting today, March 1, and weighs in at 7.6 GB. Additionally, Naughty Dog stressed that this is a beta and what you see "by no means" represents the game's final launch state.

"We still have a lot to share between this stress test and launch," Naughty Dog said.

The Uncharted 4 open beta includes the team deathmatch mode, played on three maps that are based on locations from the single-player campaign. This information emerged earlier this week when a listing for the beta popped up on the European PlayStation Store.

Uncharted 4's first multiplayer beta was held in December 2015, though it was only offered to people who purchased Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

In other Uncharted news, director Neil Druckmann recently revealed that Uncharted 4's story was changed "100 percent" after he and Bruce Straley took over as directors. Additionally, Naughty Dog has apologized for using Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag art in the new Uncharted 4 trailer, calling it a "regrettable mistake."

After multiple delays, Uncharted 4 is now due to launch at the end of April exclusively for PlayStation 4.
