Sega of America announced the release of Space Channel 5 for the North American market today. This Dreamcast game stars the distinctly recognizable Ulala, the game's virtual female lead and dancer extraordinaire. Developed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who also developed Sega Rally Championship, the game asks players to out-dance extraterrestrials called Moroliens in order to vanquish their kind and save their human captives. To progress through the game, players have to mimic simple commands on their Dreamcast controller in tune with pounding techno beats.

"Sega is setting new standards in console gaming with the release of Space Channel 5," said Stacey Kerr, a product manager for, Sega of America. "The unique premise and design of `Space Channel 5,,' combined with Ulala's hip style, redefine the music- action genre for Sega Dreamcast."

Featuring a cameo appearance by Michael Jackson, Space Channel 5 retails for US$39.95 and is available at participating video game retailers nationwide.
