UK game charts: April 16-22

Tomb Raider: Legend is living up to its namesake in the UK. In its second week of release, the game has stayed atop of ELSPA's Chart-Track best-seller list, which amalgamates how many units a game sells on every format it is released on.

Obviously, Chart-Track's system favors games that ship on as many platforms as possible--games such as Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, which hit the PC, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation 2. The tie-in to the computer-animated blockbuster won second place, up two slots from the week before.

Meltdown's ascent bumped down FIFA Street 2, which has remained in the top 10 since it arrived in stories March 6. Another Electronic Arts game, The Godfather, slipped two spots to number four. Right behind it was Football Manager 2006, the latest installment in the popular football sim from developer Sports Interactive, which is now the property of Japanese publisher Sega.

Animal Crossing: Wild World, showed some staying power, not shifting from its number-six spot. But the game below it last week, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, fell off the charts entirely. In its stead was Buzz!: The BIG Quiz, a PS2 game based on a popular trivia game.

Down but not quite out was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, which slid from fifth to ninth. Not so lucky was The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which dropped from ninth to 16th place.
