UK Chart: Gears of War Ultimate Edition Outmuscles Until Dawn

Xbox One remaster debuts at first; Five new titles enter top ten ahead of holiday season.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition, the HD remaster of the acclaimed Xbox 360 and PC shooter, has taken the top spot in the UK all-format charts in a busy week where several other prominent games arrived in stores.

Until Dawn, the PS4 horror adventure developed by UK studio Supermassive Games, debuted at second.

Three other new games made the top ten; Disney Infinity 3.0 entered at third, Madden NFL 16 joined at fourth, while Bethesda's Dishonored Definitive Edition came in at seventh. The influx of new competition in the UK games chart signals the end to the dry summer sales period, and the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

Business is expected to increase further this week, with the launch of two major triple-A titles; Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, along with Warner Bros' Mad Max game.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition, developed at Microsoft's Canada studio The Coalition, bundles access to the Gears of War 4 beta, which is expected to commence in 2016.
