UK Chart: Gears of War: Judgment finishes top, The Walking Dead in third

Gears of War: Judgment finishes first, but can't match the success of Gears of War 3.

Gears of War: Judgment has emerged at the top of the UK charts in its first week on sale, pushing Tomb Raider down to second place.

While Gears of War: Judgment topped the chart, Gears of War 3 sold more than four times as many copies back in its opening week in September 2011.

Activision's The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, a first-person shooter based on the AMC TV show that is just about to conclude its third season, debuts in third place.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which was released last week on the 3DS and Wii U, lands in seventh place, behind FIFA 13, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, and God of War: Ascension.

Fifty-five per cent of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's sales were on the 3DS, with 45 per cent going to the Wii U.

Rounding out the top 10 is SimCity in eighth, Far Cry 3 in ninth, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II in 10th.

Other chart movement sees Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm drop 20 places to 23rd, and Aliens: Colonial Marines creep up from 21st to 16th. Nintendo Land also enters the UK chart for the first time in 2013 at 39th.

The Top 20 UK chart for the week ending March 23:

1. Gears of War: Judgment
2. Tomb Raider
3. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

How the hell did that atrocity Walking Dead FPS abomination get 3rd place? For heaven's sake don't encourage such horrible games to be made.

@CriticalCritic @Daian I've only played the first few levels, but it isn't as bad as I was first expecting. By no means is is an amazing game. It's playable and enjoyable, but I would prefer so much more from the title. (Better stealth, AI from the zombies, critical hit system, instead of hitting them 4 times with a pipe and moving on etc).

@Kos1c

As always with licensed games like this it was rushed. I'm sure it could have been a good game but as you said now it's riddled with shoddy mechanics.

I downloaded it to try and found that collision detection was way off. Like you said stealth and AI is very poor. The AI pissed me off the most.

I was standing elevated on a balcony of sorts (fire escape really)and when I made a sound zombies ran, not towards the sounds but to the door of the building just to go upstairs to get to where I was.

Same when I set off a radio and then hid nearby. They didn't go to the radio but to my hiding spot.

I only tried the first two levels but after being frustrated by the controls I quit. Examples include rifle refuses to hit even if there are nothing but targets in front of you at 1 - 2 meters distance IF you don't use the scope. Instead of executing sometimes you'll shove them because it's the same button and it says "execute" if you are close enough and then when you press the button you push the zombie instead.

I couldn't sneak without crouching (it may be possible but it seemed to me like it wasn't. I didn't bother researching it closer) Crouching isn't the best position to get to a zombie's head when sneaking up on them.

Zombies spawn in. It's frustrating when you clean up a floor and close all doors and hit all the corpses in the head and then find new zombies that haven't even opened any doors. It's unpredictable in a bad way.

My PC download said I shouldn't turn my Xbox 360 off when the game is loading. It's possible it's an incomplete build and that some bugs have been fixed in the retail version but I wouldn't count on it.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to pay full price for this game even though it can provide some entertainment for fans of the TV show.

@Kos1c You get more powerful hits by holding down the trigger when you're swinging a melee weapon. Ex. You have a fire axe and you hold down the trigger, you will cut off their heads.

The game wasn't that good, but I went in with zero expectations and was happy with what I got.

Nice to see Metal Gear Rising still hanging in there. Dead Space 3 was practically kicked off the charts by Aliens: CM lol.

@IanNottinghamX Yeah people need to stop buying the crap made games and then complaining that its shit.

If people stopped doing that, then the sales targets for the games won't get hit. Its the only way companies are going to learn and start dishing out good games most of the time.

@realiamnot @IanNottinghamX and you guys should stop trying to be the representatives for us who game and buy what we want to buy. You are not the representatives of good games ... you are merely two assholes who are pretentioius and opinionated apes. Get over yourselves because you're a dime a dozen and cliched as the day is long.

@max-hit

Well this just shows how short the list of good games is nowadays...games that actually differ from the copy/pasted linear 3rd-person interractive movie formulae. Games that arent rushed cash grabs. I have high hopes for bioshock:infinite tomorrow and if this title fails to impress,offers more of the same crap and is nowhere as good as its predecessors well Ive lost all hope I had.

That's so cynical.. A lot of good games don't make the list. There are so many great games being developed by indie developers as we speak, and I'm not just talking about indie games you see in the Humble Bundles, but indie games like Torment, Wasteland 2, Project Eternity, and so many others that will be the future of gaming.

@Elann2008 @GamerOuTLaWz I Know that,I have lots of indy games on my PC and I enjoy them the most ATM like Chivalry: Medieval Warfare ,legends of grimrock , Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition and Im waiting for Project Eternity and Torment also. I was mostly talking about the AAA games industry....but I LOVE the indy games market for PC.
