Ubisoft has high hopes for its upcoming open-world game, Watch Dogs. CEO Yves Guillemot said today in a statement that, "Watch Dogs' preorders are at record levels and it is perfectly positioned to become the industry’s most successful new IP in history." Specific figures were not shared, though Ubisoft said previously that the company expects the game to sell around 6 million units.

Ubisoft isn't the first publisher to make that claim. Activision also contends that Bungie's upcoming shooter Destiny will become the best-selling new IP in video game history. Watch Dogs launches May 27, while Destiny arrives on September 9.

In another statement today, Ubisoft said Watch Dogs is the most preordered new IP in Ubisoft's history and the most preordered new IP in the entire video game business this year. Specific preorder figures were not shared. Overall, Watch Dogs is the second-highest preordered Ubisoft game of all time, though it's not clear which game is number one.
