Ubisoft Outlines Next-Gen Enhancements For Far Cry 6, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, And More

Ubisoft's aiming for 4K 60 FPS gaming experiences on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The next generation of console gaming kicks off in November, and Ubisoft will be there to help usher in the launch of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S with a range of new games and next-gen updates for existing titles. In a blog update, the publisher and developer detailed what players can expect from its upcoming line-up and just how its games will be enhanced on the new consoles.

The most immediate game in Ubisoft's catalog, Watch Dogs Legion, will feature hardware-accelerated ray tracing, smoother world traversal, and faster loading times on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, as well as free next-gen upgrades within the same console family. On the PS5, the new Sony system will use its Tempest 3D Audio engine to create a more immersive version of London, while the DualSense controller adaptive triggers have "hand-tuned responses" according to Ubisoft.

Now Playing: Far Cry 6 - Official Cinematic Reveal Trailer

Assassin's Creed Valhalla can be played at a 4K resolution and at 60 FPS on both Xbox Series X and PS5, with both versions of the game also having reduced loading times when it launches in November. December's Immortals: Fenyx Rising also has a 4K resolution and 60 FPS visual setup, with both next-gen consoles using their respective audio technology to create more detailed sounds within the game world of the Golden Isle.

High dynamic range visuals will also be a key part of Immortals: Fenyx Rising's design, with Ubisoft saying that players can expect richer and deeper colors on compatible screens. The more modestly-specced Xbox Series S will also be capable of mirroring the performance of the Xbox Series X.

Looking ahead to 2021, Ubisoft currently has two major games on the way: Far Cry 6 and Rider's Republic. Far Cry 6 returns to a lush jungle setting in the fictional nation of Yara and will be rendered in 4K 60 FPS visuals on Xbox Series X and PS5, while Rider's Republic will also reach 4K 60 FPS graphics. On PS5 and Xbox Series X there'll be a wider range of colors and crisper visuals provided that you have an HDR-compatible screen.

Older Ubisoft games will also be receiving next-gen enhancements. Rainbow Six Siege will be playable on all three next-gen consoles at 4K resolution and 120 frames per second. For Honor will remain at a 1080p resolution on Xbox Series S, but it will have a 60 FPS boost.

On Xbox Series X and PS5, the upgrades will be 4K visuals and 60 FPS, albeit it through backwards compatibility which allows for current-gen owners to retain their profiles, purchases, and inventory that has been built up over the four years that For Honor has been active in.
