Ubisoft's PvE-focused Rainbow Six Siege spin-off, Rainbow Six Extraction, looks to be releasing on January 20, 2022, if an official blog post that briefly revealed the new date before being updated is to be believed.

Via Video Games Chronicle, a Ubisoft blog post originally posted in June 2021 about Rainbow Six Extraction was updated to include the new release date, but has since been updated once again to remove it. The blog now only reads that the game is coming in January, with no specific date attached.

Now Playing: Rainbow Six Extraction Gameplay Overview Trailer

Rainbow Six Extraction, formerly known as Rainbow Six Quarantine, was originally set to release in September 2021 before being delayed. The title sees various operators from Ubisoft's popular PvP-shooter unite to overcome an alien threat known as the Archæans. Though it includes many of the same characters and mechanics from Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft isn't worried about the two games cannibalizing each other's audiences. Rainbow Six Extraction creative director Patrik Méthé told GameSpot each game has its own unique set of challenges and pacing and that Extraction will appeal to a wide variety of players.

A total of 18 operators from the franchise will be playable in Rainbow Six Extraction, and those who own Rainbow Six Siege will see those 18 characters unlocked in that game as well, along with a cosmetic bundle for both games. When Rainbow Six Extraction does release, it will include cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms.
