Ubisoft Developing Theme Park With Assassin's Creed and Rabbids Attractions

"Revolutionary new theme park experience" scheduled to open in 2020.

Ubisoft is leveraging its gaming brands to build what it is describing as a "next-generation theme park" in Malaysia.

According to the publisher, the theme park will use the company's "rich portfolio of world-renowned brands and expertise in designing high interactive gaming experiences" to "revolutionise" the theme park experience. The project is being spearheaded by Ubisoft Motion Pictures and RSG, which is co-owner and co-developer of Movie Animation Park Studios.

"Together we are creating a place where every guest is a player, every ride is a playground, every visit is a game," said Jean de Rivieres, senior vice president of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "In RSG, we've found a partner with a successful track record in working with international brands, a shared ambition to design the family destination of the future, and a wealth of expertise in theme park development."

The theme park will be located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and span 10,000 square meters. It is said that the park will feature "innovative rides, attractions, and shows" inspired by properties such as Assassin's Creed, Just Dance, and Rabbids. The tentative opening date will land in 2020, Ubisoft said.

“RSG is committed to redefining family fun, and video games have taken an increasingly central role in entertainment for all ages,” said Ramelle Ramli, the company's chairman.

“Partnering with Ubisoft means we’ll work with their creative teams to develop the first of what we believe will be a revolutionary new theme park experience. We are confident that this partnership agreement highly benefits both parties and consolidates our presence in the global family entertainment market.”

Ubisoft's Motion Pictures division is also current developing four feature films based on its properties. Most notable among them is the Assassin's Creed film, which officially entered production in February 2015.

The first image of Michael Fassbender in costume for the Assassin's Creed movie has been released, along with details about the character he plays. The movie, which is produced by New Regency and 20th Century Fox, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.

Ubisoft has confirmed the Assassin's Creed: Syndicate release date as October 23 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will be released a month later on November 19. This year's entry in the series is set in London during the Victorian era.

This park will be fun until I try to buy some funnel cake, but instead accidentally jump off of a building and murder someone, and then have to run around for ten minutes trying to hide from park security.

You'll have to purchase your ticket prior to going there to go to certain rides. You'll also have to pay extra to go to quite a few rides even if you bought unlimited access ticket. becarefull though. Safety straps are dlc. Its all your DReaMs coming true

The Rock Paper Shotgun article of this is great fun for anyone who wants to have a bit of a lark and plenty of snark. My favorite part was when it said "I bet there’s a bit where they refuse entry to all women because it’s too hard to design seats for them".

And you will have a choice between paying for each ride, or buying the Season Pass which gives you all the rides. Not certain if I want to hop on one of their roller coasters though, it's bound to crash.

A next generation theme park. Built in Malaysia. That sounds like an oxymoron. I would love to go to it, but not in Malaysia. Why Malaysia anyway?

The Ubisoft themepark-- fifty copies of the exact same ride.

You have a blast the first time, then just keep repeating the same experience until you get sad. Oh and there are ads every 10 paces to "Upgrade your park experience with a soda from Udrink".

I honestly cant decide which is worse, minions or rabbits. I want them both to burn slowly in a fire. These fucking abominations serve no purpose but to piss off adults enough to shell money at them to give a piece of their disgusting being, to their kids to shut up for 5 seconds.

You tell me, which crearure is more obnoxious and a ruiner of something good.

I love rayman, its one of my favorite platformers, and when these things came to light, i knew ubisoft was trying to ruin one man's great creation for thr purpose of monetizing it to kids.

And despicable me wasnt that bad of a movie, it had great heart to it. But for **** sake they literally had to cram these yellow cancer cells in our faces.

Please, no more rabbits, no one likes them. Please stop this shit.

I want to ride the Merry-go-round... I mean, the Abstergo-round.

I doubt they'll add a "leap of faith" attraction, because that could lead to multiple injuries and (even worse) lawsuits.

@daniel79: Well, you need a Uplay account to get in, plus paying the entrance fee. You can of course buy a preorder package before even visiting the park, the different versions being described in this multi-page Excel document.

wow, i have never seen a portfolio of games least deserving of an amusement park in all my life :D (a nintendo themed park i could understand). it's as if ubisoft wants to go bankrupt or something. if their feature films bomb, they may reconsider their future plans.

I don't get it; what's the hype with AC? I thought the first game felt like a tech demo; pretty to look at but gameplay was repetitive and underwhelming. I've been playing games for almost 2 decades now and I can for sure say it's the worst modern AAA game I've played yet. Abysmal combat mechanics, inprecise movement controls, uninteresting plotlines and characters (except AC2 maybe) and repetitive mission design with few new innovations are things that make this franchise a chore to play.

@cboye18: I agree with you-- the AC franchise is today's Tomb Raider (the old school one, I mean). It got attention by working a few basic, but at the time new, gameplay features into what was essentially a tech demo, and has been cynically over-milking it ever since. It's become a sort of soulless, assembly-line product, where each episode somehow seems even less original than the last.

@cboye18: You're absolutely right. The only thing that draws me to the series is the historical context. You forgot to mention that they're just dragging the story to milk the franchise and that all the games are easy as hell.

@cboye18: agreed. they are average games at best that just so happened to catch on with the masses. after having played the first two, i had no desire to seek another game in the series. i more than got my fill.

The map of the theme park only has a few main attractions on it, but it's absolutely riddled with pointless other things: hot dog stands, stores, gift shops, etcetera.
