In 2006, Ubisoft said that it had signed on snowboarding's premier wunderkind and gold-medal winner Shaun White to lend his name and likeness to a brand-new entrant into the extreme snow-skidding genre. As part of its Ubidays event today in Paris, the publisher at long last took the wraps off of that game, saying that Shaun White Snowboarding will arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PC sometime this holiday season.

For the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions, White's signature shock of red hair will be rendered by the same engine that powered the publisher's acclaimed Assassin's Creed from 2007. Further, Ubisoft claims that the game will be the first of its kind to be driven by physics, as opposed to animation-based maneuvers.

The high-definition consoles, along with the PC game, will feature a free-form, open-mountain environment in which players can trek around the slopes to find their ideal way to the bottom. Players will be afforded extensive customization options, from tricks to avatars to riding styles. The game will also feature a networked experience, in which mountains will be populated by other players doing their own runs, and snowboarders will be able to film others' tricks and post those videos online.

As with Ubisoft's just-announced Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, the Wii edition of Shaun White Snowboarding will feature Balance Board integration. The Wii game will be unique to the other editions, and will instead follow a storyline in which players traverse the globe with Shaun White in tow to become the world's foremost snowboarder. The game also offers online play for up to four.
