Ubi Soft to publish Murakumo
The Xbox mech game created by From Software, which was released in Japan last summer, will reach US shores early next year.
Ubi Soft has announced that it will publish Murakumo: Mech Hunter in the US, and that the US version will include 10 new missions. Murakumo's gameplay is said to focus on "pursue and destroy" elements, and its fast-paced action is set in a variety of city environments, from the streets to the tops of skyscrapers.
"Murakumo's distinctive Japanese-influenced artistic style and intense gameplay set mech gaming standards in Japan, and we plan to bring that winning formula to Murakumo: Mech Hunter here in the US," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubi Soft.
As a member of an elite mech pilot group, players battle against a rogue group of computerized mechs. There are five different elite Murakumo mechs to choose from, each with its own arsenal and abilities. There are several play modes, including scenario mode, free mission, and expert mission. The game also includes a new trial mode, which lets players fight 10 giant mech bosses against the clock.
Murakumo: Mech Hunter is expected to be released in February 2003.
