Ubi Soft announced on Friday that it will publish Evolution 2: Far Off Promise for the Dreamcast. The company has gained worldwide rights (aside from Japan) to publish and distribute Evolution 2, and expects to have it ready for release by summer.

“We are very excited to have this opportunity to work again with Entertainment Software Publishing,” said Laurent Detoc, vice president of Ubi Soft San Francisco. “With impressive graphics and diverse gameplay, Evolution 2 will give players the best elements of the original and deliver challenging puzzles and more in depth gameplay.”

The first Evolution game was known as the first "real" RPG for the Dreamcast console. Videogames.com reviewer Christian Nutt gave the title a score of 7.1, stating that it was a genuinely satisfying experience.

"Combining the success of Evolution and technological savvy of Ubi Soft Entertainment, we feel very positive that Evolution 2 will greatly surpass players expectations as rich graphics and ample gameplay yield an engaging gaming experience," said Yoichi Miyaji, president of Entertainment Software Publishing (ESP). "Evolution 2 will immerse players into the already familiar universe of Evolution as they embark on daring new adventures in a graphically stunning world."
