Ubi Soft Eyes Activision
Reports suggest that the French publisher's recent financial success has put it in a position to expand.
MCV U.K. reported that French publisher Ubi Soft is in acquisition talks with both Activision and Red Storm Entertainment. This news quickly surfaced after Ubi Soft's announcement last week that its profits have increased 75 percent over the previous year, and that its US sales in particular are up 178 percent. At the same time, Activision's stock value has declined by about half since February, which greatly reduces the potential price tag for the major publisher.
A U.S. representative of Ubi Soft could not comment since the corporate offices in Paris are closed for Bastille Day. Activision declined to respond to the rumor and Red Storm could not be reached for comment.
