Now Playing: GS News Update: Two More Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games Now Available

Microsoft continues to add new titles to Xbox One's backwards compatible library. Major Nelson has announced that two more Xbox 360 games are now playable on the current-gen console, following the lone title that was added last week.

Headlining the newest batch of backwards compatible games is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, the 2013 installment in Ubisoft's stealth-action series. While the game was also released on Xbox One, players now have the option to play the 360 version on the console. Joining it is Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, the 2011 action RPG by developer Larian Studios.

As usual, if you own a physical copy of either game, you can now pop the disc into your Xbox One to initiate a download and start playing. Conversely, if you own the games digitally, you will find them waiting in the Ready to Download area of the My Games and Apps menu. Both titles are also available to purchase from the Xbox Store.

Microsoft has been regularly expanding Xbox One's backwards compatible library with new Xbox 360 games. Last week, the company added Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. A handful of original Xbox games are also now backwards compatible with Xbox One, although these will be added much less frequently than 360 titles. You can find the full list of Xbox One backwards compatible games here.

In related news, Microsoft has teased it is making some kind of announcement regarding original Xbox backwards compatibility very soon. Next week, the company said it will share a "big update" on the subject during the next episode of Inside Xbox, which is scheduled to air on April 10 at 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET.

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning was on sale awhile back and I snagged it thinking it was backwards compatible (I haven't touched my 360 in like 4 years). Wish it was BC!

@sweet_jcs: Fun game... Weird at first, but just a massive amount of content.

As I learned on KFGD this morning, the addition of the 360 Black Flag feels redundant in light of the fact that it was also released for Xbox One.

@KBABZ: black flag most likely was never made BC because ubi would rather sell the HD copy on the xb1 then allow people to play the 360 copy they allrdy own. we see this with allot of games. like how dragons dogma was 1 of the more requested BC games and it will never have it because of the copout of the HD remastered copy that now exists. moving forward if Microsoft wants to keep BC on their next system i can see full emulation of the xb1 OS much how the wii u could launch the wii OS to play wii games. or they could keep the OS since it seems to be very flexible. to many devs rather have u buy the game again then play the copy u allrdy own. industry is shady AF now

@KBABZ: There could be cases of people that got the game in the 360 before they decided/could get an Xone. Makes sense in that context.

@KBABZ: Same feel here :-\ lame on you MS...

Anyone with a One that would've wanted BF would already have it by now (especially since it was even a free GWG before & sold cheap on tons of sales (but not the Season Pass) :-\

And why MW1 now that the diehard fans already upgraded to MWR? Have you not read the BC requests? THEY WANT MW2, MW3, etc... another pointless BC

@blitxxx1981: MS controls none of this. The publishers do. MS enables.
