Two More Worms Games

Martyn Brown of Team 17 discusses the upcoming Worms games and his company's next-generation plans.

Team 17s Martyn Brown revealed several bits of interesting information on two new Worms games during a chat that was hosted by 25meg.com and Next Gaming. He also talked about Team 17's plans for next-generation console development.

The two games discussed were Worms 3D and a completely new game named Worms Blast. Worms 3D will attempt to transplant the Worm's universe and gameplay almost unchanged into a 3D environment. Worms Blast on the other hand will be completely different from the current games in the series, according to Brown.

"Worms3D is something we've been considering for almost three years," said Brown. "We aim to bring the 2D game into 3D really, keep the feel the same, and expand it massively. I don't want to reveal too much about W3D since it's still early and at least 12-18months from release." Brown revealed even less about Worms Blast, only saying that it would be a "really nice multiplayer Worms game."

Brown went on to comment on Team 17's next-generation development plans by saying that he doesn't expect to initiate any Nintendo Dolpin development projects. "[Nintendo] is not particularly prolific at developer relations in our experience," Martyn explained. "We haven't had a long history with them and we see the PS2 and XBox as potentially the way forward." Team 17 apparently has six projects under development, three of which are Worms games - Worms World Party, Worms 3D, and Worms Blast.
