Two More Halloween Movies On The Way, John Carpenter Confirms
Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
Fans of the long-running Halloween horror franchise have much to celebrate--there are two new movies on the way. Halloween creator John Carpenter has announced that the next two films in the series will arrive in 2020 and 2021, and they're bringing back the key talent involved with 2018's acclaimed entry.
Carpenter revealed that the titles of the next two films are Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. The former will hit theaters on October 16, 2020, while the second movie arrives on October 15, 2021. Carpenter's announcement came via Twitter in the midst of San Diego Comic-Con--check it out below:
The movies will see the return of Jamie Lee Curtis in the iconic role as Laurie Strode, which she first played in Carpenter's 1978 original Halloween and reprised for last year's hugely successful reboot. Last month she teased a new Halloween movie when she posted an image with producer Jason Blum. It has also been confirmed that David Gordon Green will return as director, and will write the movies with Danny McBride once more.
Interestingly, the original plan for 2018's Halloween was to shoot it back-to-back with a sequel. As McBride told Entertainment Weekly last year: "We were going to shoot two of them back-to-back. Then we were like, 'Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. This could come out, and everyone could hate us, and we'd never work again. So, let's not have to sit around for a year while we wait for another movie to come out that we know people aren't going to like.'
FINALLY : not one but TWO new Halloween movies: Halloween Kills (2020) and Halloween Ends (2021). Yes, the gang is ALL back, including @jamieleecurtis, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green and @TheHorrorMaster John Carpenter. Oh yea. pic.twitter.com/KpVa2PlwN5— Jason Blum (@jason_blum) July 19, 2019
"So, we were like, 'Let's learn from this, and see what works, and what doesn't.' But we definitely have an idea of where we would go [with] this branch of the story and hopefully we get a chance to do it."
