Anticipation is high for the upcoming third season of the cult '90s TV show Twin Peaks, which will premiere on Showtime next year. The first official behind-the-scenes footage has now been released, in a promo that also features interviews with many of the returning cast, as well as some new faces. Check it out below:

This video follows the one released earlier this month, which confirmed that Angelo Badalamenti will once again provide the music, and featured the veteran composer performing the haunting "Laura's Theme." Watch that here.

Twin Peaks Season 3 is yet to be given an official premiere date by Showtime. In July, star Ray Wise said that the show would be broadcast next summer, and stated that co-creator David Lynch had directed all 18 episodes.

A large number of other actors from the first two seasons will be returning, such as Kyle MacLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, David Duchovny, Miguel Ferrer, Dana Ashbrook, Grace Zabriskie, Everett McGill, and Sheryl Lee.

There are quite a few famous names visiting the mystery-shrouded Washington town for the first time too. Robert Forster, Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Ashley Judd, Michael Cera, and Laura Dern are among those who will appear.

A book written by Mark Frost, who created the show with Lynch, has also been published this week. The Secret History of Twin Peaks reveals many new details about the town, and provides some clues as to what fans can expect from the next season.

Twin Peaks originally ran for two seasons between 1990 and 1991, with the prequel movie Fire Walk With Me following in 1992.

Disclosure: Showtime is a division of CBS, which is GameSpot's parent company.
