Tropico series developer Haemimont Games has announced its next project, and it's something completely different. Victor Vran is the name of an all-new, Diablo-esque action-RPG that's set to launch this summer on PC through Steam Early Access.

In the game's announcement, Haemimont said: "The team’s goal is to bring a fresh perspective to the genre by adding a broad range of equipment and special moves that drastically change combat, along with a simple, but game-changing, jumping mechanic that separates itself from many titles in the action-RPG genre."

Haemimont Games CEO and founder Gabriel Dobrev said the game was born with one simple idea: to "put the 'action' back in the action-RPG genre." The game was originally shown to a small audience at Gamescom in August 2014, but Friday marks its official unveiling.

"Victor Vran lets you decide how to play the game," reads a line from the game's announcement. "Forge your own personal version of Victor thanks to a vast array of powerful weapons, game-changing outfits, wicked demon powers, and fate cards. Use special moves, combine skills and weapons to wipe out hordes of hideous beasts and clever boss monsters."

The game is playable solo, but also supports online co-op.

Victor Vran is scheduled to launch through Steam Early Access later this year. Some games released on Early Access are still very much early in development, but not Victor Vran, which should be "nearly complete" by the time it comes to Steam. Haemimont will then leverage the feedback from Victor Vran's early access period to inform future development.

The game is published by EuroVideo Medien (Grey Goo, Blackguards 2). In addition to PC, Haemimont teases that Victor Vran is planned to launch for "other platforms" to be announced later.
