Triple Play 99's Opening Day

EA Sports trains hard preparing for the start of the 1998 season.

Comments

EA Sports' Triple Play team is working hard to release its Triple Play 99 by opening day, March 31. An early version of the game proves that many of the new features are 60 to 90 percent complete.

TP99 will build on the strengths of its TV-like atmosphere with better announcing, more player animation, and more camera views. There's even a first-person batter view that's novel (but not necessarily practical).

Some of the new animations include outfielders who can scale the walls to rob homeruns; baserunners who can railroad the catcher and slide head or feet first; and infielders who can throw from their knees, run and throw, and perform spectacular 180-degree jumping throws.

TP99 will include every MLB team, player, and stadium, including the expansion Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Triple Play 99 is scheduled to release for the PlayStation and the PC on March 31, 1998.
