Tribunal to expand world of Morrowind

Bethesda announces an add-on for its expansive open-ended RPG Morrowind for later this year.

Bethesda Softworks has announced The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal, an expansion pack for Morrowind that will expand the role-playing game's already huge gameworld. Tribunal will add new cities and "epic-sized" dungeons, new quests and monsters, and new, more-powerful weapons and armor. To aid players in keeping track of quests, there will be an improved journal system and an annotated map feature.

Tribunal expands upon the central story of the first game. In it, a ruthless new king has taken the throne of Morrowind, while an aging god drifts deeper into madness. Mournhold, the massive capital city of Morrowind, plays a central part in Tribunal's adventures.

"In Morrowind you get to meet Vivec, but he is just one member of the ruling Tribunal," said Todd Howard, project leader for Tribunal. "We've always wanted to take you on an adventure to Mournhold to meet the other two god-kings, Almalexia and Sotha Sil. It's an awesome city, and the quests there are some of the best yet."

Tribunal is scheduled to be released for the PC this November. Bethesda has confirmed that this expansion won't be released for Xbox, but "haven't announced anything one way or the other" on plans for other expansion products for the Xbox version. We'll have more on the expansion as it becomes available. For more details on Morrowind, read our full reviews of the PC and PC versions.
