The medical profession is a highly respected one. Only with the most rigorous training and mastery of your chosen field will you earn your M.D. and a lucrative flow of HMO copayments. Some of us, though, don't have the money or the attention span for medical school, and that's where Trauma Center comes in.

Trauma Center: Under the Knife for the Nintendo DS puts you in the role of a skilled surgeon who mans his hospital's emergency room. It starts off as just another day, until patients start rolling in with myriad disturbing symptoms. You'll be able to perform complex medical procedures using your stylus to both make incisions and guide your virtual-physician persona through the motions of administering anesthesia, applying dressings, monitoring vital signs, and more. The game promises a rolling narrative to tie all your cases together as you work your healing magic.

If you've got the urge to play doctor but can't be bothered to drag your copy of Operation out of your dusty board game closet, be sure to keep your eye on Trauma Center. We certainly can't wait to get our hands on the game to see if our mastery of curing water on the knee translates well to the DS's touch screen.
