It's been a while since Jagex released any new information on Transformers Universe--its upcoming Autobots vs. Decepticons MMO based on Hasbro's toy franchise--but that changed today.

Jagex has launched a new trailer (below) for the game, and the publisher is now calling the project a Massively Online Tactical Action Game (MOTA). If you're scratching your head, you're not alone. We've never heard of a MOTA before, either.

Transformers Universe is described as a "fast-paced, battle-centric, tactical action game" with modes tailored to core and casual gamers alike, as well as Transformers enthusiasts. As a commander of a squad of bots, you'll recruit, maintain, and battle other players.

The game enters beta this summer, and you can sign up for the pre-release trial period at the game's website. For more on Transformers Universe, check out our previous coverage, though be aware that information comes from 2012 when the game was considered an MMO.
