Toys 'R' Us Pokemon Leagues

Pokemon fever continues to grow. Popular toy retailer announces its new Pokemon League program.

Toys 'R' Us has announced that thousands of kids have been flocking to the toy-retail chain to sign up for the Pokemon League. Sponsored by Toys 'R' Us, the free leagues lets kids meet and play the popular Pokemon trading-card game.

The Pokemon Leagues at Toys 'R' Us are great fun for all children who participate - and they're tremendously popular with kids and parents alike,'' said Michael Goldstein, CEO of Toys 'R' Us. "The kids participate under the supervision of adult 'gym leaders' who teach them about the game or assist them in instructing others. The Leagues provide participants with an opportunity to learn from more experienced players, or to become a certified coach and teach others. Kids can earn points for playing and earn badges just for coming to the League. It's free and it's a lot of fun!''

The Pokemon League is designed around a series of six-week training sessions. Kids can earn special badges for each session, similar to the badges that can be earned in the Pokemon video games.
