[UPDATE] Sega has now teased that Total War: Attila is also getting free DLC of some kind.

"A new update with free additional playable faction content will also drop on [September 15]," Creative Assembly said, teasing that the announcement will be made September 9 during a fan-produced podcast.

The original story is below.

Sega has announced a new expansion for its PC strategy game, Total War: Attila.

The paid expansion is called The Empire of Sand Culture Pack, and it adds three new playable factions: Aksum, Himyar, and the Tanukhids. In addition, it comes with new campaign and horde gameplay features, as well as more events and "enhanced religion features." What's more, The Empire of Sand Culture Pack introduces more than 50 new units to the campaign.

"Because of the dramatic impact religious changes had on these cultures in this period, the Empires of Sand Culture Pack includes a number of changes that increase the importance of religion including building chains, victory conditions, events, technologies, and overall campaign bonuses," Sega said.

The new Empires of Sand Culture Pack will cost $15 when it launches on September 15, but if you buy it before then on Steam you can save 10 percent.

Total War: Attila is developed by The Creative Assembly, which is also working on Total War: Warhammer and Halo Wars 2. For more on the new expansion, check out the trailer above and some images in the gallery below.
