Torque Jacked

Onetime movie tie-in motorcycle racer gets new moniker; game allows players to steal bikes and race them across the country.

Comments

Sproing Interactive Media has announced that its upcoming motorcycle racer is now named Jacked. It was previously known as Torque and based on the movie of the same name. The renaming of the game has as much to do with movie's age (it was released in January 2004) as it does with disassociating the title from the movie's abysmal showing at the box office and on critic's lists. Sproing and publisher JoWood hope that the words of former The New York Times movie critic Elvis Mitchell ring true: "The inevitable movie-inspired video game will appear more realistic."

In Jacked, gamers will race motorcycles from the East Coast to the West Coast. Players will be able to steal motorcycles and battle biker gangs with an assortment of weapons. Jacked will ride onto the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 sometime soon--no release date has been announced.

Be sure to check back with GameSpot, as we'll have more on Jacked as details are released.
