TopWare Interactive, the German company behind the futuristic strategy game Earth 2150, has filed for bankruptcy. Among the reasons noted in the official release is "embezzlements perpetrated by an external advisor." Another reason for the company's financial trouble is the loss of a lawsuit filed by DeTeMedien, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. According to the release, the company has not been able to recoup any of these losses, and it had no other alternative but to file for bankruptcy. The announcement specified that the first priority of the company is to honor its responsibilities to its employees, including full payment of current salaries.

Game Studios, the entertainment division of The Learning Company, could not confirm if the publishing schedule for The Moon Project will be affected by TopWare's bankruptcy. The Moon Project is TopWare's upcoming sequel to Earth 2150, and it is currently scheduled for release in March.
