As much as I give EA grief here, I went ahead and gave their $100 Origin Premier service a shot, so that I could play Madden 20 since I was already thinking about getting it. And I wanted to check on Anthem and SWBFII, along with some of their other BF titles.

I sure hope Gamespot reviews the PC version of Madden 20, and makes sure to bring up how the game has a persistent sound stuttering issue. Apparently this was present in Madden 19, and was never fixed properly and it’s present in NFS Payback, along with some other games. The only fix are some workarounds. It’s sad that EA actually makes some very beautiful looking games, with good gameplay, that are fun..but are plagued by easily fixable issues like this, and of course the loot crates in every game.

I5 @4.5GHz, 16 GB Ram, 1 TB SSD, Nvidia GTX 1060, Soundblaster Z- it’s not my PC causing the problems with their software.

A shame Control is exclusive to the Tencent Epic store... hopefully it's a timed thing and will come to Steam in a year.

I would like to play it, but I'm not downloading anything associated with Epic.

Here I thought Astral Chain was the 20th confusing it with the 20th of the following month for Link's Awakening.

Only game for the month of August I am interested in is Control. Looks like - a sequel to Quantum Break and overall a better game. Will pick it up depending on how far I get in FE: Three Houses within the next month.

Control is the game I'm looking forward to in August but those recommended PC specifications are very concerning. This could be another Quantum Break fiasco for Remedy. I don't want the PS4 version, I want the PC version. Of course, being an Epic Store exclusive is another issue. Hopefully, the game will be better optimized this time around. I have an i7-8750/1660Ti 6 GB/16 GB RAM MSI laptop.

Sadly, Shenmue III was pushed back. That would have been my most anticipated game of August 2019 if it were released on the original date of August 27.

I wouldn't be surprised if Halo: Reach PC came out during August.

Completely forgot about Blair Witch. There is probably a reason for that. ?

Still, considering it is a rather slow month it might be worth checking out if nothing else just out of curiosity.

Of all the games releasing this month I’m personally looking forward to Control. I have this sneaking suspicion it is going to be a sleeper title. That’s not to say it will sell well but assuming Remedy delivers an engrossing and engaging experience I hope it gets the attention it deserves.

Control looks like it could be pretty cool.. Also, a worthy game to add to this list that didn't make this weeks cut is the Dark Pictures: Man of Medan..

@Jimbowesker: I dunno about that. It's more just a choose your own adventure story with a few options. It all seems to be set around the same sort of location on a ship too which is pretty damn boring from what i've seen of playthroughs so far.

I guess if you are really into that sort of thing sure but Blair Witch looks way more interesting and Control looks great agreed.

Pity Astral Chain is only on Switch too as that is so underpowered for modern games.

@deviltaz35 & @Jimbowesker:

"...same sort of location on a ship..." -- Huh? Umm, are we talking about the same game here, as in Control? Because unless I missed some new development these past few days, that game does NOT happen on a ship. It's in a building. And before you say "that's still just one location", no, it's not a regular building; it's a multi-dimensional one, like a nexus or something. In other words, you actually go to many different places & settings, including what looked like Hellscapes and Alien Worlds (check it out on YouTube if you haven't).

As for it being "just a choose your own adventure story", that's a bit of an over-simplification, my friend. I mean, I LITERALLY could say the same thing about any other game or genre with a branching path. But I think what you're trying to say is that you think the story is too simple. Since it's not out yet, I honestly don't know; who knows, you could be right about it. But even if your prediction were to hold true (about the story), seeing all the frantic gameplay footage from here on GameSpot AND other sites, I think the gameplay alone, even without a strong story, is still more than enough to at least entice me to try out this game. I just think it's really cool.

As for Blair Witch, Astral Chain & Switch, totally agreed. But then again, Switch was already underpowered from the moment it launched--or some would even argue--from the moment it was announced. So... yeah.

@merlinib:

Okay, got it. I know both games were mentioned in the OP, but I thought Control was the main subject there, and the other game was literally just an afterthought.
