Sony's PS4 exclusive Days Gone has finished top of the UK physical games chart for the week ending May 11, according to sales monitor Chart-Track. Bend Studio's post-apocalyptic title has now finished top of the all-format chart for three weeks in a row.

In another quiet week for new releases, much of the chart paints a familiar picture. The top six are entirely unchanged, with Mortal Kombat 11 and FIFA 19 remaining in No.2 and No.3, respectively. The only new entry in the top 40 is the Nintendo Switch version of Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package, which debuts at No.15.

Days Gone's continued chart success comes despite a mixed critical reception, including a 5/10 from GameSpot. "I did a lot of things in Days Gone," said Kallie Plagge in our Days Gone review. "I burned every single Freaker nest; I cleared every ambush camp; I maxed out my bike; I took out a few optional hordes just because. Like Deacon with Sarah, I kept going because I hoped to find something, to follow a thread to a possibly fascinating or satisfying or impactful conclusion. But at the end of it all, I'd only gotten scraps."

You can read the full top 10 sales chart for this week below, courtesy of UKIE and GfK Chart-Track. Note this table does not include digital sales data, and so should not be considered representative of all UK game sales.

  1. Days Gone
  2. Mortal Kombat 11

  6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Days Gone reminds me of the first Watch Dogs in a way.
They both have been hyped so much that there was no way they'd manage to deliver up to the sky high expectations that they created in the previous E3 shows!

Problem is, when people aren't satisfied to their full expectations, they become sour and will be very nasty critics.

If you are hopping into it hoping for a GOTY title, you won't be satisfied.
If you take it for what it is, you should have a very good time!

It's a fucking awesome game so no surprise.

Yeah, Day's Gone was a game that was on my radar for years and after playing it I will admit it did not live up to my expectations. But a 5 out of 10 score review? Na, its at least a 7.

@Jimbowesker: Wrong it's atleast an 8.5 son.

Days Gone was a really decent game attacked by liberal bias. Glad to see it doing well. Games not politics.

@edwardnygma: As soon as I saw the wedding scene/another flash back I started to realise why it was getting some hate haha.

It's the year of the underdogs. Sekiro was also talked down before release and turns out it was a pure masterpiece.

I ain't saying Days Gone is a masterpiece, but it's evident that people like it how it is, regardless of ratings.

@wendayy: I read the reviews and didn't have a great impression, but watching videos intrigued me. Ended up trying it out and having a good time! Maybe all the shade tempered my expectations, or maybe because I haven't played a lot of games like this, but I didn't take it so seriously and it was great.

@girlusocrazy: You just experienced hype as an adult. That's how true hype should be. Maintain your expectations low and when you start playing the game and it's WAY above your expectations, it's the greatest game ever.

@wendayy: It's not like I'm playing any random game though. To be attracted to a game in the first place means expectations on some level. Generally I try to keep an open mind and don't let my expectations get out of control. I read/watch as much as it takes to get interested in a game and once I decide I'd like to try it myself then I stop looking at anything about the game.

With Days Gone I was reading a ton because it didn't seem like there was much there that would interest me and I was looking for any scrap. But it turned out to be one of those games I had to experience in person for it to click with me.

I honestly can't believe it's still number 1 on sales charts. I played the game and well, wasn't a fan.

Good for Days Gone. Would never have expected it to do so well considering how much negative reviews it amassed. Perhaps it's because we are approaching the summer slump?

End of console slump more like. This year hasn't been great so far unless you like a lot of shooters. I'm yet to buy a game this year.
