On the portable side, Pokemon X and Y combined for 15.64 million in sales to sit in the No. 1 position for Nintendo 3DS. Other top-sellers included Mario Kart 7 (13.94 million), Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (13.18 million), Super Mario 3D Land (10.98 million), and New Super Mario Bros. 2 (10.6 million).

You can see the full lists of Nintendo's best-selling Wii U and 3DS games below. All figures are good as of September 30 and include physical and digital, as well as games bundled with hardware.

Nintendo reported today that revenue declined, as interest in Wii U games and Amiibo figures dropped off. The company still posted a profit, however, thanks in part to its sale of the Seattle Mariners for $661 million. Additionally, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said the company expects to ship 2 million Nintendo Switch consoles during the system's launch month of March 2017.

... I've only bought one of the games on BOTH lists, and one of the other games came bundled with my Wii U. Hashtag: Not a mainstream gamer?

And that my friends is the reason most 3rd parties don't stick around... I know they didn't disclose 3rd party sale numbers BUT i can bet few ever break 1mil sold...

I can bet on ps4 or X1 most of the top selling games are from 3rd parties... Now why make game for a system that most won't notice it

@slypher9: True but that's been true for every Nintendo console since the SNES (yes I am not counting Rare they were second party). The only 3rd party game in recent memory that did well on a Nintendo console was RE4, and that game was amazing and a timed exclusive.

@endersdragon: Um, the Sonic the Hedgehog games fared well on the GameCube and Wii. LEGO did well on the GameCube and Wii. Guitar Hero did well on the Wii. Soul Calibur II did well on GameCube.

RE4 isn't the only third party million seller on Nintendo consoles.

Well I own every one of those games and personally speaking Yoshi's Woolly World and Pikmin 3 were my favorites! I hated the thought of playing Yoshi's Woolly World, but got it for my wife as a gift. Turns out she just wanted the Amiibo that came with it at launch. I decided to play it and see if it was fun or not and low and behold it turned out to be my favorite Wii U game. An overlooked GEM because it had a cloth look. Best soundtrack ever and some serious platforming magic I found. :) Check out these levels they are awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckdzB-T--Zk

MK8 sold 8 million? Damn. That's more than half the user base.

The fact that DKC: Tropical Freeze isn't on that list depresses me. Best game on the Wii U.

@SloganYams: Its pretty close at 1.5+ million sold. Not bad for such a hard game.

Solid list of games there to be sure however it makes me a bit sad that Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X didn't break into that list, two very awesome games.
