Activision has announced that the PC version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, its popular console skateboarding game, is nearing completion at Gearbox Software. The PC game will feature several improvements, including new online modes, high-resolution graphics, downloadable user-made maps, and customizable configurations for the mouse, game controller, or keyboard.

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 represents the pinnacle of action sports games on console systems," said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. "Gearbox is very excited to bring our talent and experience on the PC with team-based online games and end-user modification features to the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise."

The console versions of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 were developed by Neversoft. The game was released for the Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and PlayStation last year, and versions for other video game systems are scheduled for release later this year. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is scheduled for release on the PC this winter. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
