Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 Launch Guide: Collector's Edition In Stock Now

Remastered versions of the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games are coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC this September, and you can pre-order it now.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series turned the skateboarding phenomenon of the mid-90s into something much larger, pushing the scene to new heights for gamers and casual players alike. The series persevered through the years after that, but it's lost some of its shine since. Pro Skater 5, released nearly five years ago, was a mess, and we haven't seen a major game in the series since. Activision has heard the calls from fans and is set to release a remastered bundle featuring Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 this Friday, September 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive. The remaster is still available to pre-order on PC and Xbox One, and PS4. The game includes a couple of special editions, including a surprisingly affordable and cool Collector's Edition.

Rebuilt from the ground up by Vicarious Visions, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 includes all the great levels, skaters, and modes you remember, rendered in modern graphics with an updated list of tricks. Some of the music from the original games' beloved soundtracks will return, including Goldfinger's "Superman," and the soundtrack will feature a ton of new songs as well. The remasters are only be sold as a bundle.

Now Playing: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 High Score Gameplay

The game looks to be exactly what fans wanted. Editor Mat Paget scored it a 9/10 in our Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 review. "Playing through the newly remade levels is immensely enjoyable, and that on its own is enough to call Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 a success," he wrote. "However, smart additions and an engaging challenge system make it an experience that's more than just a brief skate through Tony Hawk's past."

If you pre-ordered the Pro Skater 1 + 2 remaster, you gained access to a demo of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater's Warehouse, the level that introduced players to the arcade skateboarding game more than 20 years ago. The demo became available August 14. If you happened to get a Tony Hawk Burrito at Chipotle earlier this month (as one of the first 2,000 orders, anyway) you also got the demo, though that offer is unfortunately no longer on the table.

There was also an exclusive pre-order bonus available at GameStop--a Tony Hawk mini fingerboard with your game (on top of demo access).

Yeah so they 'say' - but I can't get any confirmation on whether or not this has the exclusive levels from "THPS 2X" or not.

I want to say "YES!" and pre-order this immediately, and if I knew I could trust the franchise I would. But because of Tony Hawk 5 and how badly the ball was dropped on that one, I am going to have to wait for reviews to come in from multiple outlets before I feel safe doing that.

@sbargovox3: Steam has always been horrible. Epic is a wonderful alternative.

@deth420: Considering they advertising 60fps, I'm sure that will be the target for consoles. Maintaining that 60fps is a different story.

@shadowwarrior4: To be fair, Steam is a pretty shitty service too and I'd rather begrudgingly support Epic than Steam's anti-consumer ways. I will be getting it on console though.

@deth420: They are not the best at testing products like Gog.com is to ensure they work on older systems for one. I wouldn't call Steam shitty these days though as they have come a long way over the years. From a developer point of view they ask alot more up front but i am not sure how that affects a consumer.

Steam can be ok if you are used to PC and like mucking about to get things to work though and the forums for each game are often really helpful so it has that going for it.
