Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has teased a new video game--and it won't be from Activision.

"I'm potentially working on something, but it's so early I couldn't talk about it," Hawk said. "I don't have any contracts signed, but it's exciting. I feel like it's with the right people so I should know more in the next couple months."

The poorly received Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, which came out in 2015, is the newest entry in the series. It came to light that year that Activision's contract with Hawk was good through 2015. It wasn't clear at the time if Activision had extended the partnership, but the skateboarder's comments about working with a different company for the new game suggest that it wasn't.

We'll report back with more details on Hawk's new game as they become available.

In other news, a documentary about the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series is in the works. "Pretending I'm Superman" is billed as "the ultimate behind-the-scenes documentary about the best-selling Tony Hawk game franchise." Hawk will appear in it alongside other skateboarders, such as Rodney Mullen.

Neversoft, the studio that made many of the beloved Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, has since merged with Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward.
