The PlayStation 4 version of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will run at 60fps, but Square Enix isn't saying what frame rate Xbox One owners can expect.

"Both platforms offer the same outstanding Tomb Raider experience," a Square Enix spokesperson told Eurogamer today. Both versions run in 1080p, it was previously confirmed.

"Delivering the core Tomb Raider gameplay at native 1080p and running at 30fps was always our primary goal given the type of experience Tomb Raider is and the exploration we want players to do. Anything beyond 30fps for this version is gravy," the representative added.

Producer Scot Amos told Gamesradar yesterday that the PS4 version of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Editions will run at 60fps, but did not mention a frame rate for the Xbox One version.

With Square Enix keeping quiet, we'll have to wait until the games are released to determine the difference in frame rate between the two platforms. A game's frame rate, which varies depending on elements like system hardware and memory, is commonly used to compare graphics performance.

Hate it how Xb1tches still say that 60fps doesn't matter when ANY game that ran 60 on 360 last gen was a Godsend! All games on Ps4 run at or above 50-60 fps. Anything less is LAST GEN! The framerate IS the difference between last gen and next gen for those of us who never had a $1500 computer! Stop saying it doesn't matter because it is the Quintessential Next Gen Feature!!!

Microsoft's State-of-the-Art AD CAMPAIGN = brainwashing. Even high end PC have frame rate dips. all games frame rate dip that are not frame rate locked. Ryse had frame rate dropping in the teens like 13fps.

I experienced framelag ONCE! hahaha Why not research what you're talking about before blabbing empty assumptions and theories. Do you're homework. I have both smartone. I know which one is better...Ryse had PLENTY of framerate lags and barely ran at 45 FPS!!! Get a life Xbot.

Or better yet, why not think for yourself and stop letting Microsoft's State-of-the-Art AD CAMPAIGN think for you...You'll save money, AND you'll have a better experience. Stop being biased and do as I did. Compare, Contrast, and make the RIGHT decision...instead of the big marketing/hype/brainwashed decision.

None of this is going to matter because Microsoft is known for paying people off in order to get their way. They will probably pay developers to hold back on what they can do on the PS4 version of their games, so that they don't make the Xbox look like the overrated crapbox that it is.

I STILL can't believe they thought it was going to be a great idea to go ahead with developing what is really just a fancy cable box that can play games.

I would be impressed if it actually runs 1080p 60 fps consistently without frame drops. My PC is much beefier than a PS4 and I didn't get consistent 60 fps at max detail. Sometimes it would drop to the high 40s.


If it actually looks better than the PC version like they claim, I'll be even more impressed.

That's why I went with PS4, cheaper and more powerful. I don't need a stupid camera. My friend argues, but I can walk in my room and say "Xbox On". Are you really that lazy, to where you can't press a button? Also, a lot of the voice commands are shiest, he spends more time talking really boldly and loud, to get his Xbox One to hear his commands, than he could just using the controller. Even then, the PS4 has the optional Eye, which has the essential voice commands.


I would like to get an Xbox One eventually, because I do enjoy Halo, and would like to play Dead Rising 3, but in the meantime, the PS4 is definitely the way to go.

@88Metallica "XBox, On"....on average it takes me 5 times for me to say that in order for it to turn on. Ambient noise is the Kinect's Kryptonite...and not everyone lives in a libray (I don't).

What the hell is the matter with Xbox One? Seriously. Aren't we told every frikin day how the PS4 an Xbox One are practically similar hardware-wise? So what's the problem? Someone please make some light in this! Why is it so hard for Xbox One to run games in 60 frames but not for PS4?

2)Noticeably more shading units- 1152 vs 768

3)Significantly higher memory bandwidth- 176 GB/s vs 68.3 GB/s

4)Explicitly more render output units (ROPs) -32 vs 16

5)Notably, more compute units- 18 vs 12

6)Newer version of RAM memory- GDDR5 vs DDR3


Explanations

1)Floating-point performance is a measurement of the raw processing power of the GPU.

2)Shading units (or stream processors) are small processors within the graphics card that are responsible for processing different aspects of the image.

3)A higher memory bandwidth means the memory can be accessed faster and therefore data can be retrieved quickly, having a positive effect on the performance.

4)The ROPs are responsible for some of the final steps of the rendering process, writing the final pixel data to memory and carrying out other tasks such as anti-aliasing to improve the look of the graphics.

5)6 more compute units. Compute units are a part of the GPU that contain the stream processors, an important component of graphics processing power.

6)PS4 comes with GDDR5 type of memory, while XBONE comes with an older version GDDR3.

Most people don't have $300- $500 GPU or a gaming pc . PC gaming is a small niche market and not mainstream like consoles gaming . PC are very different than game consoles STFU. You don't even know what you are taking about today's games are very GPU intensive and less CPU intensive the GPU way more important than the CPU today's games. STFU

This is first generation since original Xbox where Sony will have edge over Micro$oft when it'll come to multiplatform titles .

On other hand , didn't they say that "Definitive edition is built from ground up for next gen consoles" .? Ya built from ground up , yet can't optimize enough to run the game on better frame rates , it's the same game with different skin of Lara .
