Tomb Raider Movie a Step Closer

Paramount moves forward with negotiations for a Tomb Raider-inspired movie.

Reuters is reporting that Paramount Studios has advanced in its negotiations to sign Simon West to direct the Tomb Raider movie. West, whose previous directorial work includes such films as Con Air and The General's Daughter, is currently working on The Prisoner for Universal Studios.

As of yet, no start date has been given for the Tomb Raider movie. Reuters claims that the movie's screenplay bears too much resemblance to another "raiding of tombs" movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark. The film was originally slated for a summer 2000 release, but that date has been pushed back indefinitely.
