Tecmo is hoping that gamers will go cuckoo for Tokobots, the titular stars of the company's newest PSP game. Tokobot shipped to retailers today, and will be available to the public this week.

The game stars Bolt, a young agent under the tutelage of scientist extraordinaire Dr. Canewood. Bolt explores the world of Moritari and discovers some advanced technology in the ruins of ancient civilizations. The most notable product of the tech are the Tokobots, friendly and obedient steam-powered robots.

The Tokobots will help Bolt overcome obstacles and enemies by using their unique abilities to take up various formations, turning themselves into bridges, ladders, and even a larger robot a la Voltron. Tecmo promises several gameplay modes in addition to the story mode.

Tokobot is rated E for Everyone and retails for $29.99. For more info on the game, check out GameSpot's recent preview.

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.
