Today Only: 3 Great Nintendo Switch RPGs Are On Sale

Best Buy's current Deal of the Day knocks $15 off the price of Octopath Traveler and two Dragon Quest games for Switch.

If you're looking for a new role-playing game for Nintendo Switch, Best Buy has a trio of Square Enix titles on sale for $15 off today. Dragon Quest Builders 2, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition, and Octopath Traveler are $45 until 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET.

While $15 isn't a huge discount, all three of the games are currently full price at other major retailers, and Dragon Quest XI is sold out at Amazon right now. We have seen Octopath Traveler for as low as $30 and Dragon Quest XI for under $40 at one point, but there's no telling when they will dip below $45 again. Meanwhile, Dragon Quest Builders 2 has received regular discounts on PS4 and PC, but we don't often see it on sale for Switch.

Octopath Traveler is a retro-fueled turn-based RPG with a gorgeous blend of pixelated graphics and low resolution polygons. It earned an 8/10 in our Octopath Traveler review for its fresh combat system and compelling character progression.

Dragon Quest XI is ideal for those looking for a modern turn-based RPG on Switch. It has a vibrant world, interesting characters, and an intuitive combat system--all of which combined wonderfully to earn a 9/10 in our Dragon Quest XI review.

Meanwhile, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is an action-RPG with Minecraft-style building mechanics. Its charming characters, deep customization, and lavish environments to explore helped earn the 2019 sequel an 8/10 in our Dragon Quest Builders 2 review.

If you're not interested in any of the three, another lengthy RPG is coming to Switch this week, and it happens to be on sale, too. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition pre-orders are $49.94 at Amazon. The enhanced port of the standout Wii game earned a 9/10 in GameSpot's Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition review.
