The latest update for Titanfall reportedly contains references to as-of-yet unannounced game modes that developer Respawn Entertainment may be planning to release, according to one fan's findings.

A post on NeoGAF by user RazorUK states that the "June patch has added new text and script related to new game modes." He or she was able to glean some details about these new modes, but adds "that this is work in progress data and Respawn may change or not implement these game modes later."

Along with references to the new modes Respawn has already announced--Marked for Death and Wingman Last Titan Standing--several additional new modes are named. Some of these also have related text, presumably which will be shown on-screen at various points during the game.

The list of new modes, along with descriptions:

  • Titan Tag -- no description
  • Capture the Titan -- Capture the Titan and bring it to your base.
  • Bodyguard (Titan Escort) -- no description
  • Big Brother -- Attack and defend the control panel.

The related text for Capture the Titan doesn't offer anything of interest, but Capture the Titan and Bodyguard are connected with the terms guard, secure, hold, steal, and intercept, which all sound like various objectives you'll have to tackle. More interesting is the related text for Big Brother, which has phrases like, "The virus has been launched," and "Hack the panel before it finishes."

As RazorUK noted, there is no guarantee that any of this will make it into the game intact (if at all), although this does provide us with some insight into the types of modes Respawn may be considering.

It was suggested that more modes were on the way when the Featured Game Mode playlist was introduced in the June update. Respawn said that the playlist would offer modes "for a limited time only" beginning with Marked for Death and then Wingman Last Titan Standing. Two modes hardly seemed like enough to sustain a playlist positioned as one offering new content, and we know there is a desire to keep the game supported with new content for a long time to come, so more game modes seem like a safe bet even without this uncovered data.

Do any of these new modes sound intriguing to you? What kind of modes would you like to see introduced to Titanfall? Let us know in the comments.
