Frontline was playable in closed beta on iOS and Android. From this beta, developer Particle City "learned an incredible amount" about bringing Titanfall to mobile devices--but it didn't pan out.

"The experience wasn't ready to deliver the intense action-packed gameplay synonymous with Titanfall," reads a line from the statement.

The game will "wind down" in the next few days before officially going offline on January 20.

Though Frontline isn't coming out, more Titanfall mobile games are on the way as part of developer Respawn's partnership with Nexon.

"While it's never easy to cancel a game, we're excited to take some of the concepts we saw resonate with players and build off of them in future Titanfall mobile games," the statement says.

In October 2015, Respawn announced a multi-year deal with Nexon to make multiple Titanfall games for mobile.

Titanfall 2 was released in October 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Publisher EA hasn't provided any details on how the game sold, but management has suggested early results were not great.
